Set in London 1913, during the height of the British Suffragette movement, the play is centred on a love-affair between two fictional suffragettes. One upper-class woman, Lady Celia Cain and the other a working-class girl, Eve Douglas. Much of the play is set in Holloway Prison, where the characters are repeatedly sent and hunger strike for the cause.

This skirt was created for a character called Florence Boorman, a veteran activist. Brave, forthright and committed to the cause regardless of her own health or happiness.
